Click to chat! Yeah, that’s what WhatsApp calls it. Let me explain why?

Imagine you have an event coming up; you would like people to initiate a chat with you so that you can explain to them about the event. Generally, WhatsApp doesn’t allow one to initiate chat if the person’s number is not stored in the sender’s contact list. So now this new feature of WhatsApp allows others to initiate the chat with you by just clicking on the link, also if you are able to prompt them with a pre-written text, it’s easier for your prospective customers to initiate the chat with you. Confused? let me explain that again…

Whatsapp has a feature that lets you create a link, that helps the user to initiate the chat with you with a custom message that you chooses to initiate. To do this, just copy and paste the link below:

https://api.whatsapp.com/send?phone=919820098200&text=Pradip%20,%20I%20like%20your%20posts

In the above link replace:
919820098200 with your country code followed by your WhatsApp number

Replace everything after text=
Pradip%20,%20I%20like%20your%20posts

It’s the custom message that you want others to see to initiate the conversation with you.

Example: if you want to initiate the conversation with, Hello I am impressed with your presentation, how to enrol?

The above message is to be written as:

Hello%20I%20am%20impressed%20with%20your%20presentation,%20How%20to enroll?

And the complete link becomes

https://api.whatsapp.com/send?phone=919820098200&text=Hello%20I%20am%20impressed%20with%20your%20presentation,%20How%20to%20enroll?

%20 is a character for space. So instead of typing a space type %20.
